The previous owner spent 12k getting the outdrive fixed in 2009. He gave me the itemized yard bill. It was 7k in labor alone on Cape Cod. He had it on a mooring on Cape Cod for three seasons and never checked/replaced the bellows and got sea water in them. He also never took the outdrive down so the bolts were all corroded in place. So I am paranoid about checking the bellows now.
There was also an electrolysis problem because one of the bonding wires was not hooked up correctly.
The pins should sit in plastic bushings which will prevent them corroding and freezing up. Also, all this should have been checked when the boat was launched by the volvo mechanics who inspected and tested them. Same with the bonding wire. I'm curious how that wire was improperly bonded. And last, did the yard on Cape Cod use an authorized Volvo mechanic to do all this work? I don't understand why they didn't replace the outdrive with a new one.
